.inota thermal power plant

Driving on the highway curious travelers can surprisingly face strange factory buildings which are often appearing in the landscape as unexpected creatures of monumentality.

How did these gigantic structures get here? What is happening inside and between their walls? Are they open at all? Near the main road 8, towards Lake Balaton, in the direction of Várpalota, there is such a legendary building complex called Inota Thermal Power Plant

Its three prestigious cooling towers are irresistibly eye-catching. No wonder, as the Inota factory was one of the largest industrial investments in Hungary in the 1950s. Its steam boilers and turbogenerators have been supplying electricity to the domestic network for a half a century.
